Description
This is my watercolor painting of the back corner of Roseville’s Civic Center/City Hall located at 311 Vernon Street. I thought this view was interesting because of the geometric shapes with the few colored window panels in one area. Although not apparent in a painting is the fact that this is the center of change in Roseville, literally. Not only because City Hall is the center for planning and controlling growth but what is physically around it.
Across the street is the new four‐story City Hall Annex located at 316 Vernon Street with a gross area of approximately 82,000 square feet, completed in 2016. To the left this painting is the new garage provides 429 free parking spaces on seven floors which opened in 2018. A half block from that garage is a new fire station which opened in 2019. Behind the building are three new pedestrian bridges to cross Dry Creek to Royer Park and opened September 2019. To the right of this building is the Vernon Street Town Square, opened in August 2013. And of course 311 Vernon was renovated in 2002, Roseville’s City Hall has been situated on the site since 1987 in what was once a Bank of America building. Prior uses of this location included the home of Tom Royer, the Tanner rooming house, and Lambert’s funeral home.
This 15” X 22” watercolor painting was done on Bee, 140 lb, cold press paper.
