Description
A bit of Italy in Roseville, California. This building in the Italian Renaissance style was built in 1927 and acquired by the Bank of Italy. The Bank of Italy was founded in San Francisco, California on October 17, 1904 by Amadeo P. Giannini. Giannini changed the name "Bank of Italy" to "Bank of America" in 1930. In 1966 Bank of America vacated the structure and it became the home of the Roseville Press Tribune for a decade. Currently it is used for office space rentals. The building has an historic marker for the Bank of Italy Building, although it is not the original Bank of Italy building located in San Francisco which opened in 1908.
One of the things that attracted me to this dark toned building was the window reflections of brick. Those brick walls on the other side of the street belong to the Chicago West building established 1923. Built by J.H. Herring, this brick structure rose during a wave of rebuilding that followed previous destructive fires
This 11” X 15” watercolor was painted on Indigo, 300 lb, cold press paper.
