Description
This 1852 hand hewn building was built on the Simpson Ranch homestead in Sierra Foothills of California, in an area now known as Meadow Vista. A stones throw from this building is covered wooden bridge that crosses a creek, another remnant from the past. John Livingston, the man who named Meadow Vista, was an Auburn resident who bought a large parcel of land in 1918 came up with the name from the views the property offered. Today 5.5 acres of the 150 acre Simpson Ranch property is now used as a certified organic farm. Foothill Roots Farm is run by Diane and Patrick Bollinger using biologically intensive, regenerative, no-till practices. The farm grows a large variety of vegetables, herbs, fruits, and flowers. “We believe that growing good food feels great!” Their goal is to produce the freshest, most nutrient dense, flavorful food for our community so that they can be the healthiest and most productive members of society.
This 11” X 15” watercolor was done on Arches, 140 lb, rough paper. It was started plein air and finished at home.
