Description
I did this watercolor painting in a panoramic format. On the left is the Folsom Powerhouse and on the right is the Lake Natoma Crossing Bridge. This part of the America River is called Lake Natoma and Negro Bar State Park is in the foreground in the lower right.
The Folsom Powerhouse is part of a colorful chapter of Sacramento history and is also an example of the tremendous advance in the commercial application of electricity. H.P. Livermore realized that the water of the American River could turn generators for electricity in Sacramento, 22 miles downstream. With his partners, Livermore built the powerhouse, which still looks much as it did in 1895.
The Lake Natoma Crossing bridge was built in 1999. It is a Post-tensioned box girder bridge over Lake Natoma on Folsom-Auburn Road in Folsom. Length of largest span is 337.0 ft. and the total length is 2,230.0 ft. (0.4 mi.). The bridge design is a post-tensioned concrete box girder, with false deck arches.
This watercolor painting was done on Winsor Newton, 140 lb, rough paper, and is 11" X 30" in size unframed.
