Artist's Description

I was walking on the Pleasant Grove Creek Trail (South Branch) in the Quail Glen area of Roseville and thought this scene would make an interesting painting. The trail meanders through the suburbs along a feeder creek which leads to the south branch of Antelope Creek north of Blue Oaks Blvd. It was the tail end of winter and the oak trees don't have new leaves yet. The water in the shallow pond is gone in the summer along with the green grass..

For this painting I wanted to try a different looser approach, more impressionistic than photo realistic. This is more or less an experiment. The watercolor painting is 15" X 22" (half sheet) done on Arches, rough, 300 lb watercolor paper.
