Description
We planted a few water lilies in my small decorative pond in Bogart, Georgia. One day I was surprised to see this brilliant reddish pink bloom at the surface of the water. If you look carefully at this watercolor painting you can see another creature who appreciates the lily pads. Water lilies bloom in warm weather during the late spring and summer months, and they fall dormant in autumn and winter. Some species are hardy, while others are tropical. Some bloom during the day, others at night. Water lilies provide food for fish and wildlife. I put a few cheap goldfish in the pond rather than expensive koi and they are doing very well under the water lily pads. You could say my fake koi are… deKoi fish.
This 15” X 22” watercolor is on Fabriano Aristico, 140 lb., rough paper.
