On the left side just above the dam is the American River Bridge (Hazel Avenue) which leads through the bluffs to the city of Fair Oaks. The Sacramento Aquatic Center is near Nimbus Flat and that’s where you can get boating instructions and rent equipment like a single kayak for $12 an hour or canoe for $16. The classes include sailing, wind surfing, and rowing. That’s probably where those sailboats came from in my watercolor painting. There is also a boat ramp available at Nimbus Flat.
