Artist's Description

A friend of my mine requested that I paint an oak tree with cows. I had no idea that wasn't so easy to find as cattle are usually grazing in wide open fields and not typically oak forests. A decade later, I was visiting Folsom Lake in late winter and noticed cows by an oak tree. This area is along Rattlesnake Bar Road between Pilot Hill and Folsom Lake. It's too early for the oak tree to have leaves. It struck me as funny that a winter in California is so green with no snow and while several parts of the U.S. were buried in snow.

This watercolor painting is 12" X 16" done on Arches, cold press, 140 lb paper.
