Artist's Description

Thai Basil restaurant has been winning awards since it opened Roseville, California, in 1994 and is still voted as one of the top Thai restaurants in the region by the locals. Prayoon Sununsanthong and her two daughters, Wannipa and Suleka started the restaurant. The daughters learned from their mother how to make authentic Thai cuisine. Suleka eventually opened a Thai Basil restaurant in Mid-Town Sacramento while Wannipa manages the Roseville Thai Basil. Each Thai Basil has its own characteristics and signature dishes, yet the sisters share their mother's passion for food and quality.

In the painting, Wanni is cooking at the restaurant which is open seven days a week. Guess what she does for vacation, while visiting family in Thailand she also visits many Thai restaurants to further study Thai cooking. Her dedication to good Thai food is reflected in the quality of the food at the Thai Basil restaurant. Always in good spirits and she is a local treasure for the community...
