Description
The Persimmon Art Gallery is one of the newest cooperative art galleries to open in Auburn, California. Seven intrepid female artists in the middle of pandemic banded together to form the gallery which opened November of 2020. The gallery has since expanded to seventeen award winning artists (including a few guys) presenting fabulous locally created paintings, mosaics, jewelry, fine photography, ceramics, wood items, glass and textiles in addition to fun gift items, and cards. On their website they write, “This Art Gallery is the place to renew your relationship with authentic art.” Persimmon Art Gallery is tucked in between the iconic Awful Annie’s and Joe Caribé restaurants at 13466 Lincoln Way, Auburn CA.
A cooperative gallery is one where the artists share responsibilities and working days. I stopped by to visit one day and saw Lori Humphrey was working her shift. In the painting, Lori is working on her tile art when there are no visitors and she has some spare time. She specializes in creating whimsical and colorful mosaics using glass, tile and ceramic. Besides art, the gallery has art classes available in various mediums. As you can see in the painting there’s lots of small items that would make great gifts beside larger paintings and photographs in other sections of the gallery. Stop by, see the art, have fun, and chat with a local artist.
This 11” X 15” watercolor was done on Arches, 300 lb, cold press paper.
