Description
You will never guess what this mansion is today. James Kaseberg was a German immigrant who came to America in 1853, making his way to California where initially he worked in the teaming business between Sacramento and Nevada City. He later transitioned to the sheep business near Roseville, and after much hard work and diligence was able to buy out his partner's and buy enormous tracts of land which became the 50,000 acre (78 square miles) Kaseberg Ranch between Roseville and the Sacramento River. In 1892, he had a great Victorian mansion built on a wooded knoll overlooking his Diamond K Ranch. He died at his ranch August 13, 1905 at the age of 78. His son William continued the operation of the ranch until his death in 1954. In 1992, Diamond K Estates Homeowners Association incorporated. Of 63 acres from the original 50,000 acres, is now a 55+ (senior) mobile home community that surrounds the Kaseberg Mansion. The mansion is now used as the mobile home office. Bet James never saw that coming.
This 15” X 22” watercolor was done on Arches, 140 lb, rough paper.
