Description
The Boxing Donkey Irish Pub opened in 2008 at Historic Old Town Roseville, California in the Barker Building. The family run operation likes to call it, βThe Donkey.β Besides Irish food, Irish beer, and Irish whiskey, they feature live music on weekends. I have no idea what the meaning or connection a boxing donkey has with an Irish Pub. Guess this mystery will be solved at a later date.
The Barker is the last of four hotels to occupy this site. First occupied by the Roseville Hotel in 1870, later sold for six-wagons-and-a-mule, replaced by Ross House in 1891 and the Western Hotel in 1899. The Barker Hotel & Bar opened in 1911 and have since been in continuous operation. Roseville's first police station, first bus line, first taxi stand were located here, as was the popular Barker Grill. Raymond Phipps renovated the building in 1991.
This 15β X 22β watercolor was done on Arches, 140 lb, rough paper.
