Description
In February of 2020 before Covid 19, Yolo Art-Ag held a plein air event at Capay Organic Farms near Capay, California. This farm was started by Kathy Barsotti and Martin Barnes in 1976. The second generation continues to operate the farm to this day with the addition of the “Farm Fresh To You” concept. Organic produce is picked at the farm and delivered fresh to your doorstep.
This farm scene was next to where we parked our cars. Behind the structure were more tractors and other farm equipment. Being from the city, I know next to nothing about tractors. Out of curiosity I looked up the prices. On the low end a tractor is around $9,000 and in the 25 horsepower range. A typical commercial sized tractor is 100 horsepower and can be in the $75,000 price level. At the extreme high end of power is 150 horsepower and up $120,000 or more. You also need to figure in the cost of the attachment the tractor is going to pull, which runs about $3,000.
This 11” X 15” watercolor was done on Kilimanjaro, 300 lb, cold press paper.
