Description
My watercolor of Roseville's newest Fire Station No. 9 located at 2451 Hayden Parkway, off Blue Oaks Boulevard and west of Fiddyment Road. Station No. 9 serves the west and northwest areas of Roseville. The station cost an estimated $2.8 million and broke ground in February 2012. Fire Station 9 houses Engine 9 and Brush 9. The City of Roseville operates nine Fire Stations and one Training Facility. The open house and grand opening celebration for Station 9 was held on a Saturday, May 18, 2013. A year and half later, I moved into this Roseville, California, neighborhood and I’m about six blocks from the station. I walk my dog every day and see this fire station almost daily. Been thinking about painting it for six years. The theme of Fire was for Day 39 of the 60 Day/60 Theme Isolation Art Challenge. Finally had a reason and motivation to paint the fire station and that’s also why the title is simply Fire. Here’s an odd bit of trivia, the divorce rate for firefighters is three times that of the general population, which is the highest rate in the nation, second only to that of the military.
