Artist's Description
This is my watercolor painting of a blossoming tree at Capay Organic Farms in Yolo County. The title is from Day 21 Delicate in the 60 Day – 60 Theme for the Isolation Art Challenge on a social media site. I had to come up with a piece of art to match the theme daily for each of the 60 days and that was quite a challenge. I have a pile of paintings after the challenge and most likely I will be posting many of that series in the near future. They all have a one word title to match the theme for that assigned day.
The blossom with its thin white petals seemed delicate so I used that for the theme idea. I took the reference photo on a field trip to Capay Organic Farms which was organized by the Yolo Ag-Art group with Yolo County. My search to find my biological family was the genesis of my journey into the world of art. When I finally found my birth family, at the age of 40, I was plunged into a new and very different family. On one occasion while talking with the father I had never known, I discovered that my great uncle was the renowned watercolorist Dong Kingman. Fatefully discovering a cheap watercolor paint set, and intrigued by my relationship with Kingman, I wondered if I had inherited any of his talent.
