Description
This is my watercolor painting of Orange Court, which is a collection of buildings with shops and restaurants at 129 E Street in Davis, California. I was in Davis for an Arboretum hike with a meetup group and the orange and green building caught my eye. Orange Court happened to be selected as the sketchcrawl place for the Let's Draw Davis group led by Pete Sculley on February 29, 2020. I would have gone but unfortunately I previously committed to a Yolo Ag-Art event at Capay Organic Farms. Both groups are great art opportunities open to the public for free.
Pete Sculley is a world renowned urban sketch artist and author who came up with the idea of sketchcrawl. Like a pub crawl but instead of drinking you go from place to place sketching. His sketchcrawls are free and for any skill level. He usually has a fun theme for the sketches and after a few hours of sketching on your own, they meet back as a group and share their sketches.
This 15” X 22” watercolor was painted on Winsor & Newton, 140 lb, rough paper.
