Description
One morning I’m walking my dog, Mochi, and I see a kitten across the street sitting on a driveway. I figure the mother is around somewhere and keep walking. When I come back from the dog walk after an hour, the kitten is still sitting there. I walk closer with Mochi expecting to the kitten to run off. It doesn’t move, something’s wrong. With the hawks, coyotes, and the worst of all, cars driving by, this kitten isn’t going to survive. So I pick up the kitten, put him in a cat carrier, and start knocking on my neighbor’s doors. Nobody has a cat or knows anything about the kitten. The very last neighbor I checked with said he saw the cat in the middle of the street a few days ago but it ran away before he could catch it. Now I know for sure this cat isn’t going to survive without intervention because he’s not running anymore. After talking with the neighbor he agrees to take the kitten to the SPCA because I had an appointment out of town. That was my last look at that sad little kitten. I knew then I was going to make a small painting of him. There’s just something about the look of kittens and puppies that just melts your heart.
This 11” X 15” watercolor was done on Lanaquarelle, 140 lb, cold press paper.
