Product Details

Our spiral notebooks are 6" x 8" in size and include 120 pages which are lined on both sides. The artwork is printed on the front cover which is made of thick paper stock, and the back cover is medium gray in color. The inside of the back cover includes a pocket for storing extra paper and pens.

Artist's Description

The story behind painting… I was at a Folsom Arts Association meeting in January 2019 watching a demo by an artist. During the break, I spotted what I thought was an interesting object to paint. There were subtle color gradations, reflected light, mirror like surface on chrome, so I took a photo of this object. When was out in the hallway about go back to the meeting. Another artist asked me what I was painting recently. I took out my cell photo and was going to show what I was working on but forgot that I took that reference photo. A photo of a urinal pops up, and of course I get a curious look from the artist. I explained that I was planning to paint that in watercolor as a challenge. Fortunately that artist knew that I would actually paint it. Okay, it still does seem little strange.

Fast forward to the last Folsom Arts Association meeting in February 2019 and we had to introduce ourselves to the group. Everyone explained their medium and what they paint; land...

My search to find my biological family was the genesis of my journey into the world of art. When I finally found my birth family, at the age of 40, I was plunged into a new and very different family. On one occasion while talking with the father I had never known, I discovered that my great uncle was the renowned watercolorist Dong Kingman. Fatefully discovering a cheap watercolor paint set, and intrigued by my relationship with Kingman, I wondered if I had inherited any of his talent. This lingering question spurred me into trying to paint. My first challenge was deciding what subjects I would paint.
