Description
I went with the Lincoln Plein Air group on a paint out in Del Webb (Sun City) area of Lincoln, CA in December, 2018. They went to the end of Boulder Court which looks over a small valley with a trail. Along the trail there are a few spots with large boulders sticking out of the ground. They seem out of place, in the otherwise plain oak grassland terrain. I put my portable camp stool near the boulders and painted. Then I got a text from someone in the group. “You can’t be off the trail in Sun City.” I was almost done with my sketch so I figured by the time the trail police get there, I’ll be done. I finished the sketch, started the painting and no one came. Decided to complete the painting at home, where I’m safe from the home owners association of Sun City.
There’s not much to a boulder in a field. I jazzed up the color a bit and threw in a jack rabbit. This 15” X 22” plein air painting was done on Bee, 140 lb, cold press watercolor paper.
