Beautiful! Striking color contrast!

William Lum replied:

Thanks. You have a lot of color in your work too.

Artist's Description

This is a painting of the construction of West Park High School about a half mile from my house. I see the progress every morning when I walk my dog, Mochi. The new school will be right next to the original historic Fiddyment Farm House (not in the painting) which was built 1879 and now being restored by Roseville Historical Society.

The school will open for 9th and 10th grade students school year 2020-21. West Park High School is designed to initially accommodate 1,200 students, with future expansion capacity up to 2,400 students. It is located near the intersection of Hayden Parkway and Bob Doyle Drive, in the Fiddyment Farm neighborhood. The spelling of the new school’s name differs from other spellings of the nearby Westpark neighborhood, written as one word by the area’s developer and on Google Maps.

This 15” X 22” watercolor painting was painted on Arches, rough, 140 lb paper.

This lingering question spurred me into trying to paint. My first challenge was deciding what subjects I would paint. As a fan of Van Gogh, and knowing that he painted images from his day to day life: houses, fields, people working, I decided to do the...
