Artist's Description

The plein air group in Lincoln, California, went on a field trip to the covered bridge at the South Yuba State Park in Penn Valley, AKA "Bridgeport." I commuted to the paint site with two of the artists. Diane Pargament is driving and Margot Comer is riding shotgun. While we were driving on Highway 20 near Smartsville, I was thinking that the shapes and colors from the rear seat could be a painting. So here is my odd painting of another slice of my world.

Smartsville is named for James Smart, a local hotel proprietor during the days of the Gold Rush. The population number in the 2010 census was 177.

This 15" X 22" watercolor painting was done on Arches, 140 lb, rough watercolor paper.
