I painted the Rio Vista Bridge with a combination of acrylic ink and watercolor. The ink doesn't always play nice with the textured paper surface and with watercolor, blending can be a challenge. Working with watercolor paint alone is easier for me. However ink can increase the color intensity and has a different character about it.
The bridge is 44 miles south of Sacramento, about an hour's drive. The center section lifts for tall ships. I found out that when it does lift, you could be stuck in Rio Vista traffic for a half hour. This bridge is just south of the historic town of Locke where I painted the Boarding House Museum.
