Description
There's a story to this watercolor and ink painting. I planned to sketch my Bengal cat, Charli, in duplicate with ink and watercolor. Then I was going to tear the painting in half and give one half as present for an art league holiday dinner party (white elephant) and keep the other for myself. I rapidly drew and painted the two cats simultaneously. I was amazed how much they look the same yet there are many tiny nuances between the two cats. It seemed to me if one looked at the painting they would find and compare those differences instinctively. After realizing that the two cats together were more significant then I couldn't rip the painting in half and decided to keep it whole. For the gift, I ended up giving a framed print of one cat instead.
I sketched the cats with ink in a rapidograph pen. Then I painted the cats with watercolor going back and forth between the two. Sometimes I used slightly different brush or paint with a each cat. That's why I was surprised that regardless of the brush and paint choices, the cats are so alike.
