This is the last of my four Lake Tahoe paintings which resulted from a single day trip and the 44th weekly painting for this year. Now I'm going to take a break until 2017.
Chimney Beach is one of many wonderful North Lake Tahoe beaches. Chimney Beach is located 2.5 miles south of Sand Harbor right off of Highway 28 (about six miles south of Incline Village, Nevada). There are two parking lots – one on the lake side of the road and another just across the road, but hurry they fill up quickly in the summer months. According to a website there is a chance you can encounter nude sunbathers. I was there on a rainy day in the summer and I didn't see any members of TAN (Tahoe Area Naturalist). If I did they would probably end up in my painting, since I paint what I see they way it is. There are two people sitting on a boulder on the far left. That gives you some scale as to the size of the boulders and rocks.

My search to find my biological family was the genesis of my journey into the world of art. When I finally found my birth family, at the age of 40, I was plunged into a new and very different family. On one occasion while talking with the father I had never known, I discovered that my great uncle was the renowned watercolorist Dong Kingman. Fatefully discovering a cheap watercolor paint set, and intrigued by my relationship with Kingman, I wondered if I had inherited any of his talent.
