In this area if you mention the Tower Theater, people think you're talking about the Tower Theater in Sacramento which was built in 1938. But there is another Tower Theater in Roseville, CA. The Tower Theater originally opened November 7, 1940 with Too Many Girls, and a seating capacity of 1,100. A massive 1940 art deco movie theater, located at 421 Vernon Street majestically dominates the downtown of Roseville. It's sign literally towers over the the other buildings just as its name suggests. Operated as a movie theater until the early 1980's. In 1989 Angelo & Sophia Tsakopoulos who bought it and donated it to the city. Currently the theater is used for live performances and by use of a drop down screen, movies.
